Letterforms Workshop

In the last post, I described how we searched for the shapes of letters in different things and objects. But at this lesson we looked at the letters and the alphabet from the other side. All that was required of us is to find an unusual or ordinary object and referring to this object to come up with a letterform. So, we went out to research the Uni and find individual thing. For instance, I chose basketball basket :

After that we had to sketch it down and sketch it separately also, to highlight details. In my case, I had enough details that could help me to make my own Letterforms :

Thus, having a few separate parts from the basket, we could turn on our fantasy and come up with our unusual spellings. I chose couple of options like that :

So, at that time we had several creative options and then we tried to turn them into a live installation using plasticine/clay. To be honest, before I especially did not test clay, only if in childhood. I am sure, every child love to play with it. And on that day I remembered my childhood :)

Our homework is to be able to color this photo on a computer using Adobe Illustrator. This is very interesting for me, because it will be a new experience in using computer programs. Explore this topic more deeply, I came across a couple of interesting children's illustrations.

Yes, it's Letterforms for children, but it still can be interesting. That's why I think that searching more this theme it can be helpful to me to come up with my Letterforms which refers to my chosen place - Masjid Jamek.
