What I understood from Main Brief :
The first thing I have to do is start learning to think like a designer. Think globaly and notice unusual things. Capture some interesting ideas and turn them into something more than just an idea. The Brief shows me that I have to research Malaysia. Ok, not Malaysia, at least Klang Valley. There are a lot of districts that includes the Klang Valley. Several examples : Brickfields (Little India), Petaling Street (Chinatown), Carcosa Seri Negara, Astaka Morocco, Etc.
With my classmates we can make it together. I mean research Klang Valley. Of course our ideas will be different and work also will be individual. But I'm glad that on this course I met a lot of friendly, good girls and boy :) Because many of us are international students and we will be a little confused with directions, I think.
So there I'm going to research interesting places, meet different people and find extraordinary things which can help me to create The Map. The task is include some things that I should follow :
1. Create a Guide/ Visual Map.
2. Produce a piece of audio-visual content.
3. Keep Sketchbook and Blog.
To create a map we should also consider several aspects :
1. Historical – stories from the past;
2. Social – stories of how people meet & spend time with each other;
3. Environmental – relating to the daily narratives of where people live,
work and play;
4. Technological – telling the stories of how discoveries, inventions, tools
and systems affect people’s daily lives;
5. Cultural – the local ways, habits, traditions and heritage of your chosen
location life;
6. Aesthetic – concerning the sensory perceptions, beauty & taste of life in
Sheffield;
7. Statistical – involving ways in which facts and numerical data affect the
stories of people’s lives.
In my opinion it will be interesting experience for all of us. So what can I say about it? Good luck to us!
