GDC Part 2, Week 8 : The Professional

When I talk about myself as a specialist - a graphic designer, I can always clarify what kind of designer I am. I know my style, I know my strengths and weaknesses. I believe in the power of elegant minimalism.

Initially, the color scheme corresponded to my mood - this is a strict black color of elegance and beige smoothing out the corners. But in order to adapt to the simplicity in printing, I decided to stop at lighter colors such as beige, light grey, white and highlighting the details a little with suitable shades.

Since childhood, I have not used my name Altynay and asked everyone to call me just Kali (short from the surname Kalizhanova). I felt comfortable being called Kali and even creating my own content called "Kali's View" or "Kali's Design".

But when it comes to work and big decisions, of course you can't hide behind a pseudonym. Today, I consciously and seriously approached my logo and entered 2 letters AK - Altynaiy Kalizhanova.

For a long time ago I wrote in my blog that I am a former professional musician violinist and graphic design is my second profession. Someone might think that I am a bad designer because all my childhood I played the violin, and did not draw and create something interesting on a paper. But I will say this:

as a child, I was engaged in music and at the same time sports more than any child. Music taught me to be diligent and determined. And this is the reason why I quickly grasp every new obstacle in life.

Initially, I wanted to show waves as musical accompaniment, circles are like sketches to show the union of music and art. But I have decided to make the logo simpler and realized that those waves had become something stronger.

The icosn I have created are simple and elegant enough. Everything you can see here was drawn. I did not want to overload the CV. I chose thin lines.

I also really like to underline/highlight every letter or mail with beautiful details.

In my case, this is a wax seal stamp with the logo itself.
