5. Part 2, Everything Connects

What says our task :

"Your task is to then make connections between the people, ideas and objects within the lecture programme. Then make a cartographic timeline of these connections. Pick one topic you find interesting and create a visual concertina fold leaflet to express your understanding of the main topic and how it interconnects with another concept."

I thought about it for a very long time and I did not know what topics are best to choose. We learnt about 5-6 topics and each of them was very interesting. But for me, the most interesting topic was "Digital and Graphic Design". How Graphic Design relates to a Digital history. How that was important to create things which changed the world and make them more beautiful, more stylish and unusual for people.

Digital communication has become the most commonly used form of communicating today. Through digitalisation our views, ways of understanding and interacting have changed. And today we are living in a world, where computers defy our everyday lives.

The purpose of this thesis is to give a general understanding of digital communication and how it has evolved since the seventies until today. Before the digital era, the way people communicated differed significantly from the way we interact today.

Since 3000 BC, we learned what is communication and interconnection with each other is and how information was transmitted. First time that was only letter, especially Ancient Scrolls. That was evolved in nowadays Email Box. It was only a start of communication!

Next step for communication was Voice. Do you know when people did create the phone?

In the late 19th century Frenchman devised the phone which nowadays also was evolved in Smartphone or how we call it today IPhone.

Technology did not stop there and we got to that main step when we can not only read a person’s thoughts and hear his voice, but also see a person in front of us as if we were sitting nearby and talking : VideoCall!
