Design portfolio represents a window for the world to view your work and judge your talent, skills and experience. Whether you are a graphic designer, a product designer, an illustrator, a web designer or a multimedia artist, design portfolios are the prism through which designers are constantly evaluated by new clients and potential employers. Having a beautifully designed portfolio is a must for every web and graphic designer. It’s the most important factor that helps to set yourself apart from the amateurs and show professionalism.
Since I am a musician, it is inherent in me to combine everything with music. I learnt music since I was 7 years old and it's because of my Mom who inspired me that world of music is one of the best and beautiful world ever. Normal people without music education can not understand it well. Some of them think that this is so boring. But they don't know that every composition, every composer has their own story on a background. How they wrote compositions? What did inspired them? As designer, Composer also has inspiration, thoughts and stories which help them create something unique.
In my portfolio I wanted combine music, Drawing, creation and show on my Manifesto that it is all about ART. So 4 Manifesto that i chose :
1. Forte Piano ( Music terms that mean Forte - Loudly, Piano - Quietly )
2. Ricochet ( A bowing term, using down bow and staccato to create a bouncing sound. )
3. Cadenza ( generically, an improvised or written-out ornamental passage played or song by a soloist or soloists, usually in a "free" rhythmic style, and often allowing virtuosic display. )
4. Concerto ( is a classical music composition that highlights a solo instrument against the background of a full orchestra. Bach is one composer known for writing concertos. )
My first attempt wasn't good. Some parts wasn't clear, I added pictures from my music days - so that wasn't necessary. Also collaborating shapes of violin and artist's palette wasn't good idea as my lecturer said. We were trying to highlight not only violin, and palette, but make an accent on especially music terms and drawing skills in design.
The second attempt was better, much better! But my design was too complicated. I wanted to combine notes and letters and create such a melody. Because a very long time ago when Johann Sebastian Bach was still living, he was the first composer who invented combining between notes and name of notes. If you don't know in music we have letter (name of notes) : Do - C
Re - D
Mi - E
Fa - F
Sol - G
La - A
Si - B
So I tried to write down caption with using Notes and Letters.
My font was too big and i took up all the space, that's why my lecturer explained to me what should be better.
My last attempt is the simplest one. But I think it reflects my nature.
FortePiano is a comparison between Piano(quietly) - sketches and Forte(loudly) - final work
Ricochet is a comparison between musician's technical side and artist's technical side.
Cadenza is a comparison between improvisation in music and improvisation in drawing and designing something.
Concerto is comparison between exhibition your final works and final musician's performance.
